SPRING BREAK STACATION
March 31, 2009
This week is spring break, so school is out for the kids and the wife. That means I have honey-do tasks and need to share the computer with others!
As a result, this post is going to be a collection of some random thoughts going through my head right now:
Congratulations to David Taylor for being appointed as State Representative in Washington’s 15th Legislative District! My thanks go out to Jacob Anderson and Don Vlieger for campaigning hard among the PCOs and commissioners for the state representative seat. I am glad to have met you both in the process.
Why were there multiple patrol cars cruising around the mall parking lot tonight? I hope nothing too serious is going on. In my opinion, we need more police out in the neighborhoods and on the streets. They are not usually seen, until after something has already happened. Can we as a City do anything to bolster PREVENTION of crime? More police officers would help, and staying away from the headquarters building would too.
The City Council needs to do a performance review on the City Manager. It needs to be done in Executive Session, so if Council Members don’t like the way agendas are done at the last minute, and don’t have items they want on it, the public won’t know he is getting his rear end chewed.
The City of Sunnyside has new districts for the fall election. District 1 is Theresa Hancock. District 2 has Jesse Hernandez and Bill Gant. District 3 is Carol Stone. District 4 is wide open for anyone living there to run without an incumbent to challenge. Garcia, Gehlen, and Restucci will be at-large seats, not up for election for another two years.
To the Church Pastor who e-mailed me recently to let me know they are reading the blog: Thank you for your words of encouragement!
