Sunnyside Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Bust
October 29, 2009 5 Comments
In a press release dated October 28, 2009, City of Sunnyside Police announced that a traffic stop lead to a drug bust. During the stop, initially made for a defective brake light, the officer noticed baggies (used for packaging drugs for sale), and the smell of marijuana.
The vehicle registration even had bits of marijuana in the folds, as it was pulled out of the vehicle glove box. Three of the four occupants of the vehicle were eventually charged with possession of marijuana. $1,200 of cash was seized, as well as a box of .22 caliber bullets, and other drug paraphernalia.
This is further evidence of drug trafficking in the City of Sunnyside. As police make traffic stops, and smell marijuana, drug busts can be made. If this kind of bust can be made, just from what an officer smells, imagine how much more can be done with a fully staffed police department equipped with drug dogs! With new leadership on the City Council, we can make that happen.
Congratulations to the officers involved in this most recent drug bust. It is an example of what can be accomplished with greater frequency, with proper leadership on our City Council. Vote out the incumbents.

Great job! I’m so glad that you were able to smell some drugs on a punk kid and put him jail, possibly ruin his life! F*** that litte drug peddeling b****** for thinking he can just roll around selling deadly marijuana to me and my family. I swear to god if I even find a speck of marijuana in my boys can I will beat him till he bleeds. This lack of respect for authority AND FOR AMERICA IS EXACTLY WHY SUNNYSIDE NEEDS MORE DRUGS DOGS AND POLICE OFFICERS! IT’S PROBABLY ALL THAT G**D*** OBAMA FAULT FOR NOT FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH GEORGES PLAN. IF IT WERENT FOR OBAMA WE WOULDNT EVEN BE IN THIS MESS. GOD BLESS!
Wow lol, the above comment is just amazing lol. People know this plant hasn’t ever killed a person in the thousands of years its been around right?
I’m 99% sure that the first comment was a complete joke. Look at the name of the submitter. Totally sounds like a sarcasm post to me
To the author of this article (whom i assume to be Mr Jason Raines):
You stand up for this kind stuff? Do you truly believe that marijuana is that big of a threat to your society? As a journalist, you play a large role in influencing people. Why would you write such fear mongering things? Please sir, if you really believe these things, you are vastly misinformed. As a journalist, you care much about the truth and integrity of what you write, correct?
I strongly urge you to do more research on what you are trying to condemn. Please. I wont even get into how much of a waste of tax dollars this is (to enforce these laws to the degree you enthusiastically praise), and I don’t even live in your community. Far from it. Push your local government to spend more on important things, and less upon freedom imposing movements like this.
Respectfully,

apollan,
A minor point, but I am not a journalist. I am upfront in admitting I have opinions on issues. While you may see enforcement of the law as abridging freedom, I see it as protection. As a matter of principle, if someone is stupid enough to smoke marijuana, that should not be a concern of the government. However, it is against the law, and those trading in it are causing additional problems in our local community. This community is being subjected to acts of violence, many times committed by gang members that are engaged in the drug trade. These criminals are also intentionally putting children in danger, by recruiting them to commit acts of violence for them.
By putting additional pressure on the hard core criminals, we help to keep the streets safe for everyone.
